Life Legacy
Sarah Matilda Wilson was born to Edith Alberta Tappin and Samuel Wilson on January 11, 1921 at Sisters' Village,West Bank, Berbice. She attended Mission Chapel Congregational School in Chapel Street,New Amsterdam, Berbice until Standard 4 when she moved to Georgetown.
She later met Joshua Nathaniel Hilbertis Anthony and their first child Hyacinth Ulita Joan Anthony, was born at Georgetown Hospital on August 21, 1939. Two years later, on December 28,1941, Claudette Maureen Anthony, was born to the couple.Cordell Patrick Anthony became the third child on August 17,1943. Alford Cecil Frank Anthony became the fourth child, arriving on February 6,1945. Eslyn Huldah Anthony was born on May 19, 1947, the last of the siblings.
The family moved to New Amsterdam and lived there until 1964 when Sarah moved to Wismar, Demerara River, to join her husband. They later moved across the Demerara River to Linden(then known as Mackenzie). She migrated to New York in 1986.
